What languages is Alexa available in
Alexa is currently only available in English for customers in the UK. Device language must be set to English. To change your language settings, go to the Alexa app or on-device by going to Settings > Device options > Device Language. Alexa has been built to recognize regional accents and dialects across the UK.
Can my child access Alexa on their Kids Edition Echo devices
Yes. Alexa is an assistant for the whole family. Parents can make the Alexa Kids experience available to their children on Kids Edition Echo devices or by creating and enabling a child profile with Parental Permission. Parents can set up a device to run the Alexa Kids experience exclusively, or, if the device is shared by members of the household, parents can set up voice ID for their children so the device automatically turns on the Alexa Kids experience when an enrolled child is recognised. When an enrolled child profile is recognised or Alexa Kids experience is enabled on the device, our GenAI content moderation applies additional child-specific guardrails on top of the standard protections designed for general audiences.
Will Amazon Kids work with Alexa
Alexa is compatible with Amazon Kids. With Alexa and an Amazon Kids subscription, youll have access to new features like Explore with Alexa.
What will Alexa cost
Alexa will come at no additional cost during Early Access. After Early Access ends (with at least 30 days notice), Alexa will stay free for Prime members. For Non-Prime members, Alexa will not auto-renew and will be available as a standalone subscription for £19.99/month.
Will the original Alexa still be available
Were positive youll love all that Alexa has to offer greater intelligence, more conversation and a striking array of new, proactive capabilities. However, if you prefer using the original Alexa, it will remain available on your devices.
What is the difference between Alexa and Alexa
Alexa is more intelligent and capable than the original Alexa. Shes more conversational, smarter, personalised, and gets things done in the real world. Alexa works with a variety of services and devices right out of the box. You can control your smart home, make reservations with OpenTable, use your Ring subscription to check if a package was delivered, and more. Alexa also does many of the things customers love about todays Alexa, but better. Play music with Amazon Music, Spotify, and others, then have broad conversations about your favourite artists. Watch your favourite movies and TV shows, then ask questions about characters, episodes, and soundtracks. The more you interact with Alexa, the better she gets. She knows you, shes proactive, and she takes action on your behalf. These features are early examples of whats different, and Alexa will continue to get better as we add new capabilities over time.
Can I use Alexa on my phone
Yes. Alexa is available through the Alexa app on iOS and Android devices, available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Alexa access will also expand to your web browser at alexa.com as it becomes available.
