Winter is coming I know its been more often (very) hot than cold this year, but the dark drizzly dreariness will soon roll in. Weve just moved house, and the loft conversion is > 40yrs old, so its baking up there now and its going to be freezing in winter. So I need a space heater for the few hours Ill be up there per day (the existing rad wont cut it). This looks like a solid option. The unit is IP24 too, so more placement options.
Can be plugged into a socket, or via fused spur. With socket you could use a smart plug too.
This is a fancy space heater. It has a remote and an app. It will run in eco which is an on/off thermostat mode, or 1 of 3 permanent/fixed heat modes (800W, 1200W and 1500W). Its quiet, quick to heat, and is easy to install (wall hang template included).
Running cost depends on your elec tariff and selected setting. Ill let another (braver) party pile in on cost/hour (and the enjoyable efficiency, thermodynamics discussion…). Current UK average elec rate is 26.11 per kWh.

Finally, yes the Coefficient of Performance (COP) is clearly rubbish compared to Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP). But they are very different price points, with installation costs to consider too. Im not against these at all, and when our combi packs up Ill investigate getting one (not least for reverse air con capabilities). Our home insulation will all need upgrading at the same time too… my plate is full right now, so all a problem for future me.

There are few other DREO space heaters on offer too. I might get one of these too for the rear extension (1990s insulation and building regs, with undersize rad). Plus some nearly new ones too.
