To be eligible for the Sessions, you must:

3.1. Flexible Participation: Participation in individual Power Down Saving sessions is completely voluntary. You are not required to take part in Power Down Saving sessions.
3.2. Opting In: You can opt into any upcoming Power Down Saving session through the Saving Sessions dashboard in the Octopus app/online interface, or by clicking the opt-in link provided in your notification emails.
3.3. Qualification Criteria
To qualify for one Weekend Happy Hour reward (the Reward), you must complete two successful Power Down Saving sessions by reducing your electricity consumption below your calculated Baseline in two separate sessions within the Qualifying Period.
By opting into this scheme you also agree that the Power Down sessions over the period from 00:00 12th August 2026 to 23:59 19 November 2026 will also count towards Weekend Happy Hours rewards in addition to any new Power Down session you participate in during the Qualifying Period.
3.4. Free Weekend Happy Hour Reward: If you meet the full Qualification Criteria set out above, you will earn one hour of free electricity (up to the fair usage cap described in 4.1 below) during a designated weekend free power window.
3.5. Credit Calculation: Electricity consumed during your scheduled Weekend Happy Hour will be credited back to your account based on your applicable import uni rate for each half hour settlement period and your imported electricity amount (kWh) in each half-hour of the free hour (up to the Fair Use Cap of 16 kWh as set out at 4.1 below).
3.6. Slot Selection, Capacity, and Window Schedule:
Weekend Happy Hour time slots are offered subject to grid, technical, and system capacity.
We reserve the right to skip, delay, or not run a Weekend Happy Hour window on any given weekend at our sole discretion. We will give you notice where possible.
If a specific time slot reaches capacity, you may select an alternative available slot on that weekend or choose to bank your Reward for a future Weekend Happy Hour.
You must book your time slot five minutes prior to the published start time to the Weekend Happy Hour.
3.7. Banking Rewards: Unused Weekend Happy Hours rewards can be banked for future Weekend Happy Hour windows. All banked Weekend Happy Hours rewards must be redeemed before the end of the Qualifying Period, after which any unused banked Weekend Happy Hours rewards will expire and hold no monetary value.
3.8. Slot Cancellations and Changes:
You may cancel a scheduled Weekend Happy Hour time slot via the online dashboard but you must do this at least five minutes before the published start time.
If you cancel a scheduled Weekend Happy Hour time slot, we do not guarantee that another time slot will be available for that same weekend window. If no alternative time slots are available, you may bank your Reward for a future weekend.
3.9. Notifications & Updates:
Where a Weekend Happy Hour window is taking place, this will be displayed on your online dashboard no later than midnight on Friday ahead of the relevant weekend, save where this is outside of our control (e.g., data outages).
Results for each Power Down Session will be calculated and updated on your Saving Sessions dashboard no later than five business days following your Power Down session, save where this is outside of our control (e.g., data outages).
4. Usage Limits, Caps, and Exclusions
4.1. 16 kWh Fair Use Cap: Credited electricity during your selected Weekend Happy Hour is capped at a maximum of 16 kWh. Any consumption exceeding 16kWh during your free Weekend Happy Hour time slot will not be credited to your energy account and will be charged at your standard unit tariff rate.
4.2. Export Exclusions: Electricity exported back to the grid (e.g., from solar panels or home battery storage) is not relevant to and will not affect Weekend Happy Hour credit calculation. Standard export tariff agreements remain entirely separate and unchanged.
4.3. Gas Consumption & Standing Charges: Standard daily electricity and gas standing charges apply as normal during the Weekend Happy Hours. Charges for gas consumed during the Weekend Happy Hour remain unaltered and will be billed at your standard gas unit rate.
4.4. Out-of-Home Charging & Secondary Meters: The Weekend Happy Hour reward applies exclusively to the registered domestic MPAN (meter point) associated with your Octopus account in Saving Sessions. Public charging networks, Electroverse, and unmetered supplies are excluded.
5. Baselines, Data, and Crediting
5.2. Bill credits for the Weekend Happy Hours will be applied to your energy account balance. We will usually do this within 14 business days of the scheduled hour taking place but occasionally it can take a bit longer.
5.3 Bill credits will be calculated by taking your total imported electricity (kWh) recorded in each half hour segment of your chosen free hour (up to 16kWh total) and multiplying it by your standard import tariff unit rate during that window.
5.4. If smart meter data is missing or unreadable for any half-hour period during either the Power Down sessions or the Weekend Happy Hour, we reserve the right to withhold eligibility or bill credits for that session or we may, at our discretion, estimate your usage based on average consumption and savings of other participating customers to apply such credits as we calculate in our absolute discretion.
6. Safe Usage, Misuse, and Administration
6.1. Safe Usage: You remain fully responsible for operating household appliances and charging devices safely during the Weekend Happy Hours. Please ensure you do not overload internal circuits, extension leads, or breakers.
6.2. Fair Play & Anti-Gaming: If we suspect manipulation, artificial load inflation during baseline periods for Power Down Saving Sessions, automated abuse, or fraudulent activity designed to unfairly generate credits, we reserve the right to disqualify your account and withhold any unapplied credits.
6.3. We reserve the right to amend, suspend, extend, or cancel the Sessions (or any part of it) at any time.
