CHECK AVAILABILITY
Picture this: warm 30C air on your skin, the sea lapping just metres from a brand-new pool, and the smell of sizzling street food drifting over from the night market down the road.
Thats the daily reality at the freshly opened M Social Resort in Penang, right on the sand.
Malaysia is Southeast Asia on easy mode — UK plugs fit straight into the wall, English is widely spoke, and everything from taxis to top-notch food is absurdly cheap.
Fourteen nights, winter sun, flights and luggage included, for £799 per person — the whole family will remember this one.
January in Penang is one of the driest, sunniest and most comfortable times of the year to visit, according to regional guides.
Average Daily Temperature: Around 27C to 28C (81F to 82F)
Daytime Highs: Typically reach around 30C to 32C (86F to 90F)
Evening Lows: Settle at a warm and pleasant 23C to 25C (73F to 77F)
Sea Temperatures – despite what the calendar says, this is a good time to head to the beach. With average water temperatures of 29C (84F), visitors can take advantage of the beach and water while participating in a number of water sports including snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking and more. Additionally, there is hardly a wind to have to worry about as the chance of experiencing a windy day is only 2 percent
Rain and Sunshine
Rainfall: January sits in a lull between monsoons, making it relatively dry compared to the rest of the year. While short, brief tropical showers can still happen, rainfall is much lower than peak wet months
Conditions: Expect plenty of clear blue skies, sunshine and warm sea temperatures (around 31C / 88F) that are great for swimming
Humidity and Wind
Humidity: High and muggy, as is typical for a tropical climate
Wind: Gentle breezes averaging around 8 to 10 mph
What to Pack
Clothing: Light, loose, breathable cotton or linen clothes (shorts, T-shirts, summer dresses)
Sun Protection: High-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat (especially for walking around George Town)
Rain Gear: A compact umbrella or light rain shell just in case of a quick tropical shower.
