Upstairs, the bedrooms are decked out with bedspreads, curtains and carpets in tones of green, yellow or red and plenty of soft lighting. Meals-wise, youre staying half board here, so breakfast and dinners are sorted. Theres a hot and cold buffet to start the day, and each evening, the restaurant serves up three courses of Italian specialities, from filled pasta to polenta stews.

Or for a true taste of Italian culture, head for the cobbled old town to sip a local red in a cosy cellar bar. As for accommodation, there are plenty of places just metres from the action, as well as some apartments and hotels tucked in the woods on the edge of the resort ideal if you prefer more peaceful surroundings.
When it comes to alternative winter activities, try strapping on some snowshoes and stepping out on a snowy guided walk.
