Thomas Holladay – Meadowlarks Kindle Edition

Paperback £16.78 : 4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars (509)
A young widow, Carolyn Potter, wants only to find a safe haven in which to raise her son, Jason, not to find a night stalker lurking in the forest surrounding their new mountain home.
Following the unsolved murder of her husband and a violent attack on her son, she learns she has inherited a cattle ranch located in a remote valley high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
She eagerly leaps at the opportunity to escape urban violence, move out of her oppressive mothers home, and get away from her ogle eyed, lip licking employer, Tom Kirby.
After arriving in this Shangri-La-like community, she finds that young calves are being horribly slaughtered on her property, through a long running ritual to placate a wild, predatory beast. Carolyn and Jason decide to interrupt this ritual and protect these young bull calves, thus unleashing deadly attacks on human members of the community.
