Sir Charles Macara organised the first Lifeboat Saturday in 1891, which was also the worlds first street collection for the RNLI. Thousands of people paraded the streets and raised over £5,000 thats over £500,000 today. Without them, we wouldnt have been able to save lives for 200 years and counting.
