Mums come in every autumn shade going, so which colours have you spotted in store, the reds and bronzes or the brighter pinks and yellows Do you pot yours by the door or plant them straight into a border Post your combinations below, especially if you mix them with heather and cyclamen for a full autumn pot.
What you get: a potted chrysanthemum, 13cm pot, 25 to 31cm tall, in a range of colours, ready to brighten a patio, doorstep or border. In store from 27/08 (article 10053153).
One accurate note so nobody is caught out: autumn pot mums are best treated as seasonal colour. They put on a big show now and into autumn, but they are only half-hardy, so they will not reliably survive a heavy frost outdoors the way heather does. Keep them in a sheltered spot or a pot you can move, and deadhead spent flowers to keep them blooming for longer.
Plant them together: these pair perfectly with the Autumn Heather at £2.49 and the Cyclamen at £2.99. A mum gives you instant bold colour now, while the heather and cyclamen carry the hardy structure right through winter, the classic autumn container trio for a few pounds.
