About this offer
The Warriors (1979) follows a New York City street gang known as the Warriors, led by Cleon and based on Coney Island. When Cyrus, the charismatic leader of the citys most powerful gang, calls a midnight meeting in the Bronx to unite the citys rival factions, the Warriors attend despite the danger. During Cyruss speech, he proposes that the gangs could control the city if they stopped fighting each other. However, Cyrus is suddenly shot by Luther, the unhinged leader of the Rogues, who immediately blames the Warriors for the murder.
The Warriors are forced to flee as every gang at the meeting turns against them. With the police and hostile gangs closing in, they must travel across New York from the Bronx back to Coney Island. Along the way, they face brutal confrontations with the Turnbull ACs, Baseball Furies, Lizzies and other dangerous crews. Their journey becomes a desperate fight for survival, loyalty and brotherhood.
Directed by Walter Hill, The Warriors combines gritty urban action, comic-book-style characters and a pulsing late-1970s soundtrack. Beneath its stylised violence is a simple but powerful story about being hunted, sticking together and trying to make it home against impossible odds.
